Put an alarm on the bike today, yes I know many hate them but I simply consider it another level of security.
Install went fine, except only the rear indicators blink on arm/disarm, not the fronts. Any car or bike alarm I have done has always flashed front and rears, no matter where wired in. Is it possible the 8th gen has separate wiring for front and rear?

Would seem unlikely that you'd have a separate circuit between the front and the back; maybe (and I'm grasping here) this is a result of LED indicators, where the diode only allows current flow in one direction.

You have wired them into the wrong part of the circuit. What alarm have you fitted mate.

Hi fink, it's a spy alarm. Wired into the indicators at the tail unit after testing with a multimeter. One side zero, other side read a changing voltage. Rear indicators work as they should on arm/disarm.
When you say wired into the wrong part of the circuit, Am I in totally the wrong location?
Thought Terry may have been onto something, are the front indicators LED?

    Cheers, appreciated.
I've done quite a few car alarms, never had a problem connecting to front indicators and rears flash too. Does seem a bit weird.

Neither front or rear turn indicators use LEDs. They are all 4 bulbs (at least on the US model...we do have little LED running lights in the mirror next to the indicator that stay on all the time, but the indicators are regular bulbs).

Maybe tap into the hazard (4-way flasher) circuit, instead.

Thanks Dave, I suspected that but Terry's ide made a bit of sense. No reason why all 4 should not be flashing on arm/disarm then, it's a bit weird.

I'm back to the land of the living now.
Had a quick look at the wiring diagram. The reason they are not working together as is I suspected. They are all run into a relay which controls the turn signals and hazards.

Unlike the Std (US)version which is wired like a conventional bike, the deluxe or (rest of the world )bike has a bit more sophistication in its wiring because of its turn signal cancel system. The front and rear as well as the indicator and hazard switches are all run into the relay separately so you will need a live feed for each corner.

Also the switches appear to be live , opposite of a conventional bike.

Normally an indicator switch has a power coming in from the relay and feeding out to the bulbs and earth.

On the Vfr it is live to the switches from the relay down the orange and blue wires (indicator colours) then to earth through the switch.

Anyone have experience using an disc lock with audible alarm on it? What do you think of them?

Never used one myself as I already have a disc and U lock. However as I said, an extra layer of security helps.
