Can anyone tell me if the stock bars are mounded using some kind of damper under the clamp where they mount? If I push up and down hard on them I can see them move a little. Like a millimeter or 2. I can see the fluid reservoir move every so slightly. They don't move or slip forward or anything. The bolts are tight.

:nono: the clip on should be tight to the folks
Might want to double check the 4 bolts holding the clip on to make sure they are not cross threads

The bars on my bike (a 2000 VFR) and my wife's (96 VFR750) are clamped directly to the fork tubes with nothing between the clamp and the fork tubes and nothing between the bars and the top triple clamp. I would think a bit of flex in the bars would be normal.
