How much should i be able to see in the rear? Just went for my first ride today and i could see very little behind me. When i glance in the mirror i can see my arm and everything to my side. In order to look directly behind i have to drop my arm to about 10* of the centerline of the bike (elbow as the vertex) which is awkward and annoying. Am i doing something wrong? Or is this normal for a sport bike? Thanks in advance.

I guess I should ask which generation VFR you are riding but in the end it really doesn't matter I suppose. The mirror position is critical in getting the best view but it really depends on a number of factors not the least of which is you and how you sit the bike. The VFR mirrors are marginal and every rider is a little different. Taller, shorter, wider, you get the idea.

If you need the mirrors extended, they do make spacers / extenders which should help you out although I would imagine that they would add vibration.

Its an 86 vf500, i got it figured out eventually lol. I had to tweak the bases of the mirrors. Just parked in front of my car and messed with them until i could see my bumper.

My friend has the miror extenders on his 03 vfr and does not have any issues with vibration. I have ordered a set for my 04.
