I have had my 86 vfr700 for the past 6 weeks. I bought it cheap and put some effort into making it look and run better. I redid the bodywork, fork seals, regulator. Once I put quieter mufflers on it I realized that the motor was not up to spec. It made some mechanical noise that was covered up with the loud pipes. I checked the compression, Testing the rear bank I had 50 and 70 psi. My bike had been through numerous owners with varying degrees of mechanical skill. I had debated selling it but found a fresher 1986 vfr750 motor on vfrworld from BradMcDill. I just got the motor installed on Sunday. The motor was a straight bolt on (both have brown side covers). I am using my own carbs, ignition box and exhaust system. I haven't ridden it since the transplant yet but started it and was the throttle response so much sharper and the mechanical noise is gone. Maybe tonight I can get it on the road again. Thanks Brad for the motor. So my motorcycle engine has a 3 mm stroke increase. should give a nice increase in torque.
I took it out on the blacktop tonight. Nice, makes me feel much better about the bike. A good way to start my 36th year of motorcycling and my 60th year. Very observant crusty rider,
