My manual says check the Yellow/White - Yellow and Blue/White - Blue. But, I don't have those wires… I have Two White, yellow, blue, black…

So how do I check the ohms with this wiring?

Ok after looking again I see those colour combinations are in the other end of the harness going to coils, which honestly just confuses me now.. Because I thought I was going to get a reading to tell me if the pulse generators are bad or not?

When I set my multi meter to 2000 I don't get a reading at all on either blue or yellow wires, if I set it to 20k I seem to get the same reading I get when I check my coils themselves 2.9 and 3 (which as far as I can tell for the coils is just right). Not really understanding how to check for the 480 ohms reading…?

Bike is up to temp I was just on a 20min plus ride with it.

I originally thought I had a problem with my ignitor boxes but after switching them with each other and getting the same problem I know think it must be the pulse generators and before shelling out 100.00 on used ones (can't find new anywhere?) I want to be sure I'm replacing the right part..

Your bike has two pulsers, so you need to test each pair of wires going to them. Wiring diagram should show which pairs you test for 480 ohms. Also test for resistance between each wire and ground; should have infinite resistance.

    My online manual states:

    PULSE GENERATOR TEST
    Remove the right sidec over.
Disconnect the pulse generator coupler and measure
    the coil resistance.
    RESISTANCE: Approximately 480 Q
Between white/yellow and yellow leads (1,3 cylinders)
Between white/blue and blue leads (2,4 cylinders)

So when I disconnected it and held the end that went down into the engine housing (where the pulser's are?) the wires were not as described and I cam here and made the first post. (I am working outside in the dark with a flash light)

Read it again and went back out to look and discovered the colours described are in the other plug end. Put my multi meter on 2000 (under the area with a little u shaped thing) and touched the White/Yellow with one lead and the Yellow with the other lead. Nothing came up so I tried the same with the blues and nothing came up.

I am assuming I am doing something wrong either in my limited understanding of how to use the multi meter or in how I'm understand the wires to touch with the leads...

Yes that "little u thing" Omega you say.. ;)

Anyhow I figured it out and just left the coupler connected, then probed into the back of it. Finally have confirmed that the 1-3 igniters pulse generator is bad.

Got the new pulse generator installed tonight and OMG what a difference! They must of been giving a weak spark since I picked the bike up a month ago...

Its pulls so much smoother now and should hopefully fix the extreme poor fuel milage I was getting before.

Very happy for change. Shame its so dark and wet out! lol (I just did the pulser swap by flashlight under a dripping wet pine tree)
