After 3 months of VFR ownership, and a couple of thousand miles, the bike keeps getting better and better. No regrets on the purchase.

However, "the boys" have been a bit uncomfortable and numb with the new ride. I was uncertain if the culprit was simply the seat, or the different ergo's and proximity to the tank.

On the suggestion of a cycling friend, I purchased a pair of padded (gel padding) biking shorts. This made all the difference in the world, and the ride is comfortable now, even multi-hour rides.

Any other comfort suggestions would be appreciated....

    Here's a suggestion for you:
DON'T chop the throttle if your wheelie gets a bit too high!!!!
    Your "boys" will thank you!!!:humper:

If you want to enforce a permanent separation between your little buddies and the tank, try Stompgrip. I put it on my 5th gen (CBR929 kit fit my tank nicely) and the added grip means you're not sliding anywhere under any circumstances. It also allows you to support your weight better with your lower body. I'm a fan, in case you hadn't noticed

Had the same problem with my unit getting caught between the gas tank and my knee. So now I just have to wrap my tank in bubble wrap. JK. Wear loose fitting pants??

The boys have been fine all along. Must be because they like the ride.
But my butt suffers with the OEM seat...
Biking shorts with the padding did the trick.

Well, it's carbon fiber -- so it's gotta be for bikers!

I have definitely made the mistake a few times of having a wheelie get a bit too high and chopping the throttle, only to have my buddies meet the tank at mach 10. Ooof. Wowza.

I would say sit back a little more from the tank, the seat is big so you can shift around a bit. Also, when you are on, stand up on the pegs now and then and fix your pants, if they arent all bunched up in the crotch it might be more comfy.

But as a guy who spends most of his time on a minimalist racing road bike seat, the VFR seat is like a sofa!!!

    Best of luck!
