Just as a matter of regular maintenance I was going to bleed the brakes on my '02 with ABS but the more I searched for info the more confused I got.

Maybe I'm over thinking the whole ABS linked braking thing but in the past I would simply bleed the fluid from the front left caliper and then do the right side making sure not to run low of fluid in the reservoir.

I'm not looking to completely drain the system first, just to add fresh fluid.

    any tips

    Thanks
    Gary

I've only briefed over the procedure in the service manual, but basically it appears it has you use one of those vacuum bleed devices such as mityvac, and connect it to the various bleeders in the system in some sequence.

Yes I would be very careful not to let any reserviour go dry during the process with ABS. Usually for ABS equipped cars you can short some jumpers to get it to do 'sequence control' where the ABS will cycle the pressure build/hold/release valves which can aid in the bleeding or getting air out of the ABS hydraulic unit if you got some in there.
