Hello everyone, let me start off first by saying I've already had the priveledge of getting to speak with a few of you and just wanted to say thank you for the help I've already gotten. Last month I bit into probably the biggest motorcycle project I've had so far. I bought an 86 vfr 700 off of craigslist for 300 bucks. This bike was in boxes, and its my intention to get it back on the road and be my next bike after close to a 20 year hiatus from motorcycles. Any help of suggestions that anyone cares to chime in with will be much appreciated. Like a lot of my projects I start off with big dreams and big intentions but sometimes run into problems with biting off more than I can chew. I'm by no means an expert with any of this, but I know my way around a motorcycle and this will be about my tenth bike at least. I live in Washington state, transplanted from Arizona and I look forward to using the site to help me get through this project. I'll post my progress if there is any lol.

First thing u gotta do is discover why it was taken apart and whether parts are available to fix it.

Always makes me wonder why people pull things to bit with little intention of ever putting things back together, if you are not going to fix it leave the dam thing alone

No, not going street fighter, I'd like to get it as close to original as possible. The first thing I'm going to be looking for is a tank in good condition if you should happen to have one of those. I'll be looking for pretty much all the plastic too, if I can't find any in good shape I'll probably get some after market stuff. If you have a tank please let me know.

Seller said he took it apart to clean it and start a ground up resto. Then it sat in boxes till I got it, go figure. Worst case scenario I got a decent engine guy that I work with that will be able to go through the motor if I have a worst case scenario. Fingers crossed that's not the way I gotta go, I'm due for some good luck, lol.
