I am looking at a 2006 VFR and wanted to know what kind of problems you have encountered if any? I dont know much about the V-4 and wanted to know how easy it is to work on. I have only had V-twins and inline 4's in the past.
The single biggest problem w/ the entire VFR line is voltage regulator/rectifier failure. Otherwise it is one of the most bullet proof rides on the market, always has been. Comfortable enough to tour w/ speed & handling to spank(or @ least mildly embarass) the majority of the Ricky Racers types on full sport rides. Even if I where to part ways with the VFR it would always be on my short list, it is nearly perfect in everyway for solo riding & adaptable or adequate for two up work(for most, not so much for my self but I'm not exactly small). There are those that will trash the VTEC in favor of the former gear driven cam set up but ultimately both system have been reliable. Bite the bullet & buy, you won't be disappointed, unless of coarse you expecting liter bike performance then the CBR Blackbird may be a good alternate, you would give up some of the nimbleness of the VFR though. Just an addition, a V4 torque wise will be between that of a v-twin & that of a inline also damn near perfect. More usable than a twin as the ass end will only break loose if you want it to; and not as peaky or hard to control as an inline. Smooth & refined - perfect, the V4 is one of the most reliable engines ever used to power a bike w/ a very long history of reliability.
