I am needing to change at least one of my float bowl gaskets due to the drip drip on my alternator cover and ordered some replacement bowl gaskets from crc2online and ordered #BG-2675- the listing said it would fit 85-87 VF700/750 interceptors so I figured what the hell, 20 bucks is cheaper than about 40 for one and a bunch of stuff I don't need from Honda.

Well, get it home and ordered a float needle I was hoping would work and they are too small, the package says K&L Supply #18-2675, same ones Squirrelman said to use for the application. Could these have been packaged wrong? I emailed crc2online about a possible mixup or maybe thery sent the wrong ones, I dunno.

    Anyone else have this problem?

That number on the crc2 online catalogue lists: VF700/750F Interceptor '84-'87

Are the float bowls the same for the VF750 as well as the VFR750?

Looks like the years may be incorrect on that website?

    **Best whiny voice**

But I don't wanna put o-rings in!! I WANT squared gaskets!!!

Yeah, probably was only for the 83-85 VF's, I was hoping the gamble would pay off.

Maybe Squirrelman can get you some info on where he gets the gaskets for the 2nd gens.

Yep, K&L Supply, #18-2675, good deal @ $38/set of 4. Any 'cycle dealer can order them.

Package says it's for VF 750F, but i think i've used them on VFR '86/'87 also.

I'm going to try the hydraulic shop make-a-gasket sometime soon.

SM- there ain't no "making" to it. the number that i listed in the thread i linked above is the exact fit for the 86-750 bowl gasket. the cross-section diameter is just big enough to provide a wee bit of "squish" upon closure, which the last OEM gasket i got really did not.

unless the o-rings fail from swelling or becoming brittle over extended use/time,
i can't see any reason to not see them as the cost and performance solution.

the cost was 1 or 2 bucks each for local pickup about 5 miles from house.
it is a common size that any decent HYD shop should have on hand.

    Be very sure

Be sure it is the bowl gaskets. I recall the same problems of gas dripping from the bowls but it was not the bowl gaskets. The gas was leaking on top of the carb from the fuel feed T-tubes that sends fuel to both sides of the carbs. The gas would run down from the top and drip off the bowls at the bottom. I wish I did not learn the hard way, but I got real good at removing and replacing the carbs till I got it right. The o-rings were a cheap fix but difficult to get at. I did learn a whole bunch about how carbs work in the process. I believe it is hard to trace the leak without removing the tank and carbs. But if you had, say a long q-tip and stuck it on the top of the carbs and smell gas on it, it is not your float bowl gaskets. If it is the float bowl gaskets, be carfeful with the screws, they deform with ease. DAMHIK. I found a set of float bowl gaskets, but the are getting difficult to find. Of course I ended up not needing them because it still leaked gas. I hear that you can use large O-rings and see no reason why this would not work. Just do not over-torque the screws and use the correct screwdriver size.

for reference, i bought very thin fuel rubber for pennies, simply traced out the shape of the float bowl and cut it out to pretty much cover the width of the two metal halves- mine have been sealing perfectly for 4 yrs now, not a drop. I left the old seals in to create a little bit of a wedge - but im sure this is not needed.

Cheap fix and it works great -
