I have Brembo Serie Oro brake rotors and Goldfren Carbon Ceramic brake pads installed and after 1800 (ish) miles the rotors (especially REAR) has premature wear. The brake pads are gone and the fronts are starting to make noise.

1800 miles seems very low to have the pads wear out much less the rotors.

I also rebuilt the calipers with new SS pistons and seals and the rest.

The rear tire spins freely when in center stand and I don’t feel it dragging.

    What am I missing?

They wore quickly before or after you rebuilt them?

Have you called Brembo and asked them, Ace?

I realize you are just looking for answers and that's OK but seems like Brembo should have the info you're looking for.

    What year/model bike?

    Thanks!

sticky, bent or unlubed slider pins can cause problems like that if the calipers dont move as designed.

It's not the rotors fault. I'd bet the pad compound was shit and they quickly wore down to metal on metal, perhaps helped by calipers that weren't sliding properly as they wore.

Mmhm yeah. I’m right there with you. I am waiting on a shipment of new rotors and brake pads. I’ll have the chance to inspect the calipers and see wtf happened :(

You’re going to laugh but I got the same Goldfrens Carbon Ceramic https://brakecrafters.com/products/s33-049x3-1985-honda-interceptor-500-vf500f

I actually like how they progressively grab when I want to slow down.

I was going to go for EBC HH pads because everyone raves about them. Just thought I’d give them another chance.

HH means "street". They will be similar to OEM in most cases. I much prefer the Honda pads to EBC.

Now that my eyes have returned from rolling to the back of my head, why don't you say out loud for everyone how much you have now spent on 2 sets of rotors and pads in less than 2000 miles on a VF500F.

And then you're gonna put the same SHIT pads back in?

    Wow.

Lmao I know I know :Boom:

I’ve been told the Goldfrens were good and others use them for more than just street.

The Brembos are where my money went. Unfortunately didn’t last long. I’m starting to think it was a bad rebuild job on the caliper side and they were dragging over time. Will open them up soon.

What’s your go to break pad of choice?

The compound you chose obviously wears out fast. You should have been monitoring new unfamiliar expensive parts more closely.

Unless one pad in the caliper looks new, and the other is metal on metal, it likely wasn't your rebuild. And if the pistons weren't retracting properly and the brakes were dragging THAT hard, you should have felt it just rolling the bike around.

Just get some FA69 EBC and be done already. You don't have to go HH, but it sounds like you probably should.

And if your rear brakes wore out first, you should also consider reevaluating your braking skills and method.

Also, your bike has "BRAKES", not "BREAKS". Well, in your case...

Look... I am seriously sorry this cost you. I'm glad you can still have a sense of humor while you take some abuse. Now learn, move on and ask questions.

"Everything I read on a forum of enthusiasts with lots of experience said buy X, so I bought Y."

Nobody would have recommended those pads. And if it was clear you were still hell-bent on them (likely just to save a few bucks), we would have said to keep a close eye on them. At least I would have.

Chains, sprockets, brakes, tires. Not the best places to cheap out. And I don't mean the most expensive option is always the right one, different circumstances and applications may have different needs. But there is a big difference between "cheap" and "value", or sufficient for the application. Those pads were not.

    Cheers dude.

And in 500 miles when those wear out...try OEM Honda or Vesrah RJL or similar pads. They are magnificent. They also make some compounds that are even more "streety."
