I've been searching this site and others about the power commander3 usb, it seems that they help with the "on/off"throttle in first gear, but what a can't find is anything about the gas mileage, does it hurt, or help? I really don't want to hurt my mileage if i can help it. as it is, my last bar will start blinking at 175ish miles i fill up at around 185 miles. for me thats one tank every two days. Is my mileage about the same as everyone elses? and can the power commander help?
    Thanks for you input, Bill.

can't say for sure about the PCIII as I have the PCII, but I definitely get a little worse mileage with the PCII than I did before. Others who ride behind me say you can smell the gas in the exhaust when I give it a hard twist.

Hey Bill, I just installed the Pwr Comm III w/ O2 elim. kit, & gutted the cat. before I had them tune it on the dyno. It runs fantastic, no more on/off throttle problems! As far as the gas mileage, well it seemed to get worse cause my wrist won't stop twisting the throttle!!!!!!!! Kenji

I've been meaning to do the actual calculation of mpg since I installed the PC III USB, but haven't yet. I can say mpg does seem to be marginally worse though, but I'd never go back since the positives far outweigh that lone negative.

The mileage you are getting sounds about the same as my 05.

Placerville KG, Your right about the postives out weigh the negitives. I wouldn't change back to the original tune! The VFR is really under tuned for EPA codes. Kenji

Scorpio65, I live in north Phx, near the 51 & Greenway, how about yourself? Going for a ride, a great idea! Have you done or plan any mods for your VFR?

Kenji, I just got the bike on the 20th of Nov. So as of yet I haven't done anything to it. I'm looking at the PClll to help with the on/off throttle problem and maybe some risers. Also looking for a black chrome wind screen, but no luck yet. I have found them for almost every other bike out there but not the VFR... As for a ride some time i'm always ready. I live in the far west valley,(really far west valley) off of 367 Ave and I-10. I've been to Wickenburg by way of vulture mine road. Thats the only route I know of, haven't had time to travel around yet..Theres also another site I go to, it's southwestrides.com, it's local riders around the valley, they always seem to be setting up rides.

Scorpio65, Your almost in Califormia!!! Did you pick up your bike new or slighty used? As far as the gas mileage goes I feel that Placerville KG was right, the postives out weigh the negatives. Its just a more pleasant bike to throttle around town with. Kenji

    Hello,
I realize the post is 6 years old, but I too, am having major trouble with the on/off throttle at low rpms on my '06. I had a PCM3 USB installed, but it helped everything but the on/off.
I was just wondering if you ever found a solution or a specific map (if you installed a PCM that is...)?
    Thx,
    Exo

Dyno tune is your solution............Did you do the O2 eliminator? This must be done as the same time when you install the PCIII.

If you haven't done the O2 elimintation, installing the PCIII by itself will do nothing.. especially since straight out of the box it has a zero map and doesn't affect anything.

Well, let me reply by saying I don't wrench on my bike. That'd be like a wheelbarrow mechanic working on an F-16. So I had a local motorcycle shop put in the PCM. I opened the box to get the USB cable to check the mapping (they had the 2nd Dynojet map installed: all stock + 02 eliminator kit), and I think I may have found the problem?
    IMG189.jpg

Are these the 02 sensor eliminator plugs that are SUPPOSED to be installed? (behind the left fairing from what I understand?) Or are the plugs installed and these are parts from the stock bike? If they're from Dynojet, then I guess I'm headed back to the shop....

    Thx for the help people...

Those are in fact the Eliminators that must be installed. The have to unplug the O2 sensors to do so. Take it back and make them do it right.

Good luck and hope they will install them at no charge..........Make sure test ride to make sure the map is working. Sometime you have to reload the map to get it work again.

Taking bike back in tomorrow. They'll do it for no charge I'm certain.
I did call they shop today though and the service dude said that a lot of bikes headed for sale in Canada don't even have the 02 sensors. This sounds fishy to me. Can any other Canadian VFR owners verify this?
In any case the bike has to go back because of other issues anyway. If they are feeding me a line, I'll definitely be going elsewhere for service.
    Thx again.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Damn work gets in the way of my riding!
So they installed the O2 eliminators and it solved about 85% of the surge. Enough that I can at least control it now. Yay!
It's also WAY more fun when the VTEC kicks in! HEEHEE!
I'm gonna try a couple of the maps kicking around the net to see if they eliminate it competely.
Thanks for all your help guys!
