    Dear All,

I own a RWB and have decided to powder coat the wheels white. Do you know if the stock wheels of the 2007 RWB are powder coated? Would you recommend a good shop to commission this job? I live in Blacksburg, Virginia and I would prefer a shop nearby, however, this is not a problem as I could mail my wheels. I would also appreciate any information about the probable cost of this job.

    Cheers and thanks!

    CElias

I believe SLOVFR told me he spent about $50 to get one wheel coated. I thought that sounded like a pretty decent price and it looks good. He went to a local in Cali, though. I'm sure you should be able to find someone close enough to not have to mail it. That would make a big difference on the cost.

Make sure you account for new bearings in your front wheel. You don't want to cook those and re-use them.

I had both of mine done 2 years ago for $100. They were done by a local shop. I found them by simply opening up the yellow pages. smack doogle is correct that you'll need to remove your front wheel bearings and make sure the surfaces where the rotors bolt on are taped.

Thank you all, I will let you know how it ends and send a pic. I did find a local shop in Salem, recommended by a good friend that has too many bikes.

I'm not sure I understand the last fours words in that reply. Can you clarify?

Gosh, you are right and I am sorry. No one can ever have too many bikes!

and final update with the results of my search:

the cost is US$80 per wheel, all included. I received quotes as high as 165 per wheel, and there seems to be consensus on 80-90 per wheel.

Thank you all again for the recommendations, and happy riding--btw it is almost 70 in Virginia and I took a long ride earlier today.

There are some gorgeous roads down there in the New River Valley.

Yes, the Blue Ridge Parkway, 311 to Paint Bank and beyond, back roads to Tazewell. I am not complaining :)
