Installing new chain & sprockets. Rear DID sprocket is a polished finish, too bright for black bike, can it be
powder coated without flaking/chipping? Any issues with heat during the process? Thanks!

I do not have the answer but my guess is it would be that it would chip off. The powder coating in contact with the chain would definitely chip off with the friction.

I really don't think it is worth the money you would pay to have it powder coated. How much I could not say but it is a hard brittle coating so it would chip further along the side of the sprocket that what is actually covered by the chain. I am sure that in short order, the chain lube and weather is going to take that shiny luster will disappear. If you really want to colour the sprocket, I would just use a rattle can and paint it what ever colour you want. Some sprockets do come painted black.
