Hi everyone! I'm currently in the market for a VFR. I came across an 02, non ABS model, basically brand new. What's a fair price on a low mileage (around 100) VFR? How much over blue book would low mileage be worth? I like the less aggressive ergonomics compared to my CBR929.

Based on the mileage and your description I would say the bike is worth somewhere around $4500. Keep in mind that brand new leftover 2007 non-abs VFR's were recently selling in the low $7k range and while this bike has low mileage it is still 8 years old and will probably need new tires due to their age regardless of their condition. Another thing to keep in mind that a wiring harness recall was issued by Honda for the early 6th Gen VFR's and this includes this year model.

If you don't mind me asking, why does this bike have such low mileage on it for it's age? VFR's are very solid built machines and are well known for their reliability and any VFR you find with less than 10k miles is as good as new in my opinion assuming that it was properly maintained.

Story from the dealer was the owner was a collector and needed to get rid of a few bikes. They have a couple other bikes as well from the same owner. I'm sure the dealer would take care of the recall if they haven't already. They're asking $5500 for it. They also have an 07 RWB with saddle bags for about $7500 with 500 miles.

I personally think you can find a better deal through a private individual. I've seen plenty of low mileage 6th Gens for between $4000 and $5000 and many already include the most desirable aftermarket goodies (exhaust, premium tires, heli bars, hard bags, etc.) Keep in mind that after taxes, tag, and title you would be paying over $6000 which makes this a bad deal in my opinion.

I like Rollin's suggestion. If you are looking at a used bike, think of the mods you'd like to have, then look around and find a bike that has them for less than the dealer asking price. Popular mods are seat, pipe, power commander, heli-bars, hard luggage. If you find a bike with all those for around the same price, you just saved $1000...

I was going to offer $5000 out the door. It was just over $6k with tax, $15 dmv, and $50 doc feee.
