Hi everyone, I'm looking to get back into the world of bikes and new to VFR World. I have always had a soft spot for the VFR and have recently decided to go hunting for one. I started out on a 91 ZX-7 and took a 7 year hiatus from the sport to go back to school (needed money). I recently stumbled onto VFR World and began researching....

I have found a 2002 VFR 800 with about 60,000 kms on it, 2 owners with new tires, new chain, well maintained (valve adjustment at approx 56,000 kms), a helmet, tank bag, cover and a wheel lock. The price is listed at CAN $4000 obo. I know these bikes can reach upwards of 150,000 kms, but is this too much to pay for a bike with that amount of mileage?

    Your input is appreciated

    Greg

I don't know the canadian/US exchange rate anymore, but to put it in perspective, I got my 2007 VFR800 VTEC (non-ABS) with 14,000 miles, adjustable levers, sergeant seat, power commander module and a Garmin Zumo 550 with mount for not much more than that. I thought that was a STEAL. The blue book on it (and what the insurance company will cover) was more than $2000 more than what I paid for it.

I don't know if that helps at all, but if it is in good shape and well maintained, $4000 seems reasonable, but I would try and get it for $3500...

•••••••••••••••••••••• Well thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it. I do know that Canadian bikes are priced a bit more that American models for some reason (even if our $ is at par). The owner seems like he'll negotiate on the price as he doesn't want to store it for the winter. The other option around this area is for a 99 VFR 800, yellow, around 60,000kms as well, garage kept, every oil change synthetic/ K&N filter, Tank bra, heated grips, newer rubber and chain/sprocket, Throttlemiester, Corbin seat and solo cover and a modified rectifier. The pictures show only minor scratches on the lower R fairing/crank cover (?) by the rear brake pedal. Very minimal though. I those years were very sought after cause of gear driven cams. The only disadvantage is she wants $5000 (prob negotiable). I think that's a bit over priced, but your thoughts on that would be welcomed as well. :)
