The Laser exhausts have been around for several years - pretty much written off by first gen folks. The quality is sub-par even for aftermarket exhausts. They are meant to be a replacement that meets UK laws that restrict the sound levels and such. Because of that they are bad for performance, pretty much known to cause big power losses. Just look at how they are made!

If you just need to get your bike up and running Laser might be an option. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. Just my two cents!

I am pretty much with Jamie on this one. Some years ago, after extensive searching, I found that Laser was the only company still making new exhausts for the 86-89 VFR bikes, so I bought their Pro D'Or 4-2-1 system for my bike. The fit is really tight, but the look is overall a good one.

After a while, I found that the way the exhaust mounted caused a swingarm nut to rub the shell of the muffler, along with me making the mistake one day of over-tightening the ring clamp thingy that holds the muffler in place....well long story short, I ended up having a new muffler custom made for the bike.

After doing some testing and riding around with the new muffler, I learned a few important lessons.

    (1) The new, custom muffler sounds MILES better than the laser. (2) My bike actually gets 3-5 mpg BETTER with the new muffler (this is the one that really blew my doors off). (3) the Laser 4-2-1 baffle has a 3" outlet....this makes it a total pain in the butt to find anything that will fit the baffle and replace the old muffler. (4) Jamie is right in that these things must be constructed in some shoddy manner.

Bottom line, (at least from my personal perspective) if you want a brand new, good looking, functional exhaust, Laser really isn't a bad option. If you want something to really wake the bike up and perform exceptionally well, it's probably a better idea to find a welder and have a custom exhaust system made, as with the money that Laser asks for their products, it'll cost you about the same.
