    Hi all....

This just started happening to my ride... when I shift into 2nd (lightly)... I then accelerate the gear the seems to pop out into neutral.

What is the issue here? I think it could be the clutch plates needing to be replaced. Is this so?? If so what do I need to get in order to replace it??

    Thanks

SOunds like you are not getting it all the way into second. I know sometimes if I mike a light shift it may go into gear but then there is "play" in the shifter, meaning I can move it upward without it changing the gear. This causes me to have to move the shifter extra distance on the next shift, or lift the lever twice. I always try to make a firm shift. If that is not the case, my service manual lists 5 possibilityes for why it may jump out of gear (check local listings for causes relating to your specific year model):
    1) damaged or bent shift fork
    2) bent shift fork shaft
    3) damages stopper arm
    4) worn gear engagement dogs and slots
    5) damaged shift drum cam grooves

from the looks of the exploded pic in my service manual (90-93 model) it looks like work on this canbe don without having to remove the engine from the frame and without having to split the cases.
