Hi I've just bought a 2003 vfr800 vtec today rode 100 miles then had the 1st engine cut out while on the move engine restarted then 70 miles later it did it again and then another 2 time over the nexts 30 miles. I pulled in the services to fill up it started fine then I rode it 20 meters to park up and pay. Came back out bike fires up then die straight away the fi light comes on while trying to start then goes off.

Had similar problem last year, went over the bike from head to toe, ended up being stop switch as Allyance suggested.

Recovery lorry bloke thinks it's a bad earth. I'm booking it in to a garage. I'm not messing with this bike. Cost me too much.

The +12vdc feed to the Stop/Start Switch feeds the ignition switch (when ON), switch contacts get dirty, not hard to clean. Requires separating right switch assembly and cleaning.

Now that sounds more like a bad ground, devices feeding back through other devices to find ground. Check all you connectors and ground connections.

this is a video of whats happening to my bike at the mo. i've not had chance to check anything apart from wiggle wires to see if its a dodgy connector. i have noticed that when the bike won'y start all for indicators and the side light are on at the same time but no main beam and i get the electrical buzzing sound

Here in the US, there was a recall notice issued by Honda on the 2002 to 2005 models. It involved a wiring harness up front. I don't know if this was a worldwide recall? But if so, a call to Honda or the dealer, run your VIN, and that will tell you if the recall was done.

I don't know if you're problem is related to it, but can't hurt to check.

I have a 2003 and have had front fairing off many times (LED Headlight installs), I don't remember seeing anything yellow! Might be previous owner put something in.
