I'm sending the cover to the powdercoater and I took the bolt out thinking that the plate would just fall off, but it's stuck on there good and I'm concerned about damaging either it or the cover if I persist. Should I leave it in place?

I remember this coming up within the last year. Some clown wanted to remove it for "racing" weight. If you do a search, you may turn up the thread. Memory says it's for noise and without it your motor will sound like a bucket of rattling bolts.
