Not that I know any places on the opposite coast, but what do you have in mind for a check up?

I'm the first to admit I got no skills when it comes to wrenching on machines. But, being able to do some basics will not only save you some cash, but also lets you learn about the bike to know where things are and what they should look like (assuming they are all in good working condition). Do you need to tackle a valve job? Probably not. But if you just want to change oil, air filter, coolant, adjusting chain, understanding the electrical/charging system, etc., its worth its weight in gold for you to take a day and learn.

You could probably find one of those local guys out there that would work for a six pack and in return spend some time with you going over the bike.

In OC, a Democrat will want a six pack. A Republican will want a case.

Dealers make money by providing services. Not all of them will lie to you and tell you what needs done to a bike. The message here is to learn to do some of these things yourself and not have to pay a dealer for either an inspection or a performance of service.

As an example, adjusting and lubrication of the drive chain. This is maybe a ten minute job. A dealer will charge you for probably half an hour to an hour, raising the bike on a lift to do the job. This maybe if you have a solid appointment and the time to wait your turn. It is quite possible you may need to leave the bike a day or so because the dealership is busy. This adds to the cost since you will unless you are within walking distance to the shop need transportation. Your bill at dealer rates can could be as much as 80-90 Dollars.

If you have a booze problem go to a meeting!

Bring it on by my place, I have the tools and space to do all the basics and we can give it the once over. However if you really want it checked out by a Honda service tech, my buddy knows the service people over at Orange County Honda and says they're a good service place. Your call.

Note: Although I'm a registered Democrat, I'll take the Republican's rate...big fan of Luganita' IPA.

Before I bought my tire changer, I took my wheels to him. If there was something I wasn't sure I could handle, I would see if he could take care of it. Good little shop
