Anyone recommend a decent brand of Pit Stand for an 86 VF1000R? I guess the axle nuts may not fit right/well with all brands... or so I've been told. Could you guess at a price if you do have a recommendation?

Also, the speedo just stopped working on the road today, although the speedo cable is attached at both ends and ~seems~ to be fine. Would it be more likely that the issue is the speedo itself or the cable? Mileage doesn't tick over either...

Lastly, would a speedo cable from an 84 VF700F work on the VF1000R?

    Cheers...

DiscountHondaParts.com and ServiceHonda.com have online fiche for these bikes, so you may want to cross the part number for the cable there to see if the '84 VF cable will work.

Also, you may want to post on the Yahoo VF1000R newsgroup. I don't have a pit stand for my 1000R, but I know that others on that site do and could probably help you out.

I have 2 Lockhart Phillips stands. One is the SSSA stand (has since been discontinued) & the other is a front axle stand. The front one is adjustable. Give them a shot maybe? If they don't have anything you need, Pit Bull supposedly has a stand for just about anything.

I use a standard PitBull rear stand with my 1000R, it works fine.

For the front you'll need the steering stem style stand. A fork stand would pick the bike up but with the quick release style axle you obviously won't be able to remove the wheel.
