The amount of filter doesn't really matter once you get past enough area so there's no restriction. If the Honda OEM filter works with no restrictions, then the Pipercross just looks cool. Bigger isn't necessarily better, sometimes it's just bigger. OTOH if you can post the flow chart for the VFR at full throttle, and compare that to what these filters will flow, then you might be on to something. But if you had access to a full throttle flow chart, you'd probably see that the OEM filter is more than sufficient. But JMO of course.
