So I put a picture in the calender gallery and I thought it was tasteful and represented the VFR well but it has established the lowest rating in the gallery it is in (6.67). Is it offensive or something I don't know about? I don't mind a low rating if it's a crappy picture but just wondering.

Shutter speed too high, not enough cropping, doesnt show any real action. Looks like the bike is parked . Note the discs appear to be stopped. ( shutter speed too high)

in my humble opinion... the picture is OK....not crappy but not GREAT its just there......... did you do this with a remote? If so you should slow the shutter speed about two stops then take the Fstop down two stops.... for example Shutter speed 1/125 f16 set at 1/80 F20..you'll get the same exposure but the perception of motion will be captured and the background may blur a bit more....

good body position. photo is ok but background is a little distracting. if i were to shoot, i'd use a slightly lower speed and pan the shot to blur everything except you and the bike.

Ok.. I just checked the exif data. ISO 400 . I dont know the CANON EOS 5D MKII ( I shoot NIKON ), but ISO 400 is too much on a bright sunny day. Shutter speed was 1/ 800 second @ F8. My suggestions would be 200 ISO or even 100 ISO if possible. Then, shutter speed of 1/250 second would help. Lens is a CANON 70-200mm F2.8, and the focal length used was 70mm. Try zooming in to 130mm or so, to crop out the back ground. Therefore, no annoying back ground, and nice motion blur.

The picture was taken by a professional at Palomar Mnt. There are several there almost every weekend. I just bought the photo from his web site. Thanks for the feed back!

I just noticed that several of you voted for the image resulting in a improved rating. This wasn't my objective for posting this but it's VERY kind of you all. Thank you again.

Hell, mine was only a 7.2. With yours, the shot of you and the bike are as good as any of them...just about. I think the one with the tanks kicks. But I guess the back drop in yours is lacking some luster. Try again next year. I am two for two. A failure two years running. Beat that. Though mine did make the cut with soomeone else's submission. I seem to remember submitting a similar picter to December's last year and it did not make the cut. People here just don't like me.
