    Hello VFR riders,

I purchased my yellow 2000 vfr 800fi about 3 months ago and I am thinking about putting running lamps on my bike. I have looked at PIAA lamps at about $325.00 and the Motorlamps that cost about $342.00. What do you think is the better high end look of the lamps? Also, anyone interest in commenting as to where to place the lamps, that is, above the fender or below next to the wheel hub.

Thanks in advance to anyone who might moment.

    Ride safe,
    2000 vfrider:smile:

Congrats on the new ride, and welcome to the club. I had PIAA's on my 6th gen when I got her and they looked pretty good, but a little goofy at the same time. They were on a bracket that attached them to the lower mounting point of the front fender. I'm assuming that you're looking at "Motolamps" that have a band that go around the fork and that's how they attach, IMO they stick out waaaaay too far and look silly. I can speak for the PIAA's being super super incredibly bright at night on dark twisties, but I've never seen the Motolamps in person so I don't know which is brighter.

As for the mounting aspect, the PIAA setup didn't look horrible as aftermarket lights go, but they didn't really look like they belonged there, I moved them around a couple times and got rid of the spacers to move them in closer to the wheel/fender and that helped a bit. If I were to mount up a new set I would try to "tuck them in" somewhere underneath the headlamps so they didn't look so silly.

Or, you could do what I'm thinking about doing and get a projector kit to modify the headlamps themselves, seen that on a couple friends bikes and not only does it retain the clean lines but it'll blind the crap outta you in the DAYTIME. Good luck with your project, let us know what you decide, and ...................

twin projector bi-xenon hids would be the ultimate lighting upgrade for any VFR, I think... :) the bi-xenons use a solenoid to lift the horizontal cutoff shield to provide the "brights" vs. low-beams. And bright doesn't even begin to describe it... (this is what a lot of the high-end japanese/european cars have). The S2000 is good example of just how good this can be.

I have some HID PIAA's, but haven't found some mounts I like, I am thinking of mickey mousing up some of my own, but I want them up higher, like underneath my mirrors. Not down low by the tire.
