I just thought I’d post my experience with the Gen 6 hiring harness recall. I took my ’04 in Tuesday after work to have the recall work preformed. To my surprise they called me Wednesday to say the work was completed.

On a side note I removed my electrical add-ons before taking it in as I didn’t want to get into a discussion with the dealer about liability. I removed my PCIII USB among other things. If ever there was a demonstration as to the worth of this device it was laid to rest. The bike was a totally different beast after removal. It ran rough through most of the RPM range below the VTEC and was difficult to drive at low RPM in traffic. The surge was most noticeable. I though maybe the original roughness was due to the bike being so new. I installed the PCIII at about 200 miles. Now I have nearly 4,000 and it should be broken in.

I will pick the bike back up this evening and reinstall the PCIII this weekend. I will follow this post up with additional info on how the recall work went.

I'm surprised your new bike ran so rough. Mine was like a sewing machine when i got it, couldn't be smoother, sounds like a dodgy setup to me.

I guess I need to qualify it a bit. When I bought the bike it seemed to me to run fine, except it would surge at low RPM in low gears. It was difficult to ride around the neighborhood. It seemed to run fine above 3000RPM. I installed the PCIII to correct the lean condition off idle. I thought it smoothed out the whole RPM range, but it seemed a very subtle difference until I removed the PCIII to return the bike to the dealer for the recall. The bike seemed to run rougher than it did with the PCIII.

I really don’t have any complaint about the way the bike runs, just seems a little smoother throughout the RMP range with the PCIII, especially in low RPMs off idle in low gear.

I have ridden all the new bikes and my '07 is one of the finest running machines ever. Funny to see guys do all these "mods" and then show up at the dealer with 2" wide chicken strips and a huge scoop down the middle of the tire. (obviously not you vf750orig from your sig) but just saying.

Yeah but yours wasn't built to the EPA test I am guessing. Or CARB. You very well may have a totally different "stock" map then we get here in the states.

Your '07 may have a better stock map than my '04. It's not about going fast; it's about low RPM surge. My wife bought a Ninja last fall and riding around the neighborhood with her while she was getting used to riding again my bike was surging and difficult to ride slow, first and second gear. Although I though the bike was running great, the PCIII made it smoother and got rid of the low end surge. I have not made any other modifications such as O2 eliminators or PAIR valve.

I picked the bike up last night after the recall modification. I had asked them to check out the cooling system as I found a couple of drips of coolant under the bike the other day. I though I smelled coolant while riding on Sunday. Coolant and oil are the smells you get preceding a crash. They indicated 2.3 hours to “tighten clamp” on the invoice. They said the leak was under the throttle valve. They also broke one headlight while removing the front fairing. Looks like it would have been an expensive bill if it wasn’t covered under warranty. So far I am pleased with the work they did. I haven’t let anyone work on a bike I ride since I raced in the 70s. I still grilled them when I picked the bike up to find out exactly what they did. I’ll go back through it this weekend to check their work.

    Is pretty nonsensical.

Regardless of skill level, apparently mods work. Otherwise Valentino Rossi would just pick his bike up at the showroom and take it to the track.

Depending on the mod, either great or shitty riders (or both) will ride better. The PC3 (as well as certain front suspesion mods, if you weigh over say 170) probably help everyone.

Therefore, the veiled 'you guys mod and you suck' seems both unwarrented and also pretty unfriendly. Are you an asshole?

ikavo....Just a wee bit sensitive are we? Shame on you for using the "A" word against a fellow forum member. Very poor judgement shown there. To be fair, I think you should answer your own question?

Now that's nonsensical!!! The former has nothing to do with the latter! (Also, I don't think he picks his bike up at all.)

I'd have to agree with 84cb that it is VERY
,that, and many other "ya woulda been better off if ya left it alone" problems. Mods DON'T always work.

Could just as easily be written "Depending on the mod, the ride will be either great or shitty (or both?). Don't you think? Personally, I've seen many "mods gone bad".

    Try to get some sleep.....

Wow Ikavo, Maybe you missed my point. I see you are in LA shall we meet at the Crest or 33 on my Stock 07 and your Hott roddded OLD clapped out 05? What I meant was this bike really hits its target stock and new and feels amazing to ride. Sure I have bikes Modded to death but I just dont see this as a bike I will mess with too much it is THAT good. Just my opinion maybe if was a member here longer I would know better. (thanks mr. wilson)

aww shux guys, let's not take this stuff too seriously. we're all just a bunch of guys who like to ride. try to read the comments a couple times before you take any offense, then remember everyone can have their own opinion (even KC-10). Now, I will admit, my opinion is the only one that counts...

So apparently the big bad Japanese with the greatest rider of our generation couldn't scrape enough Mods together to take on little tiny Ducati huh?
