Howdy, To begin, I'm running a 99 VFR with a K&N filter and GPR exhaust. After installing a power commander II I started noticing my engine cutting out around 2750 rpm. This only happened if I was at less than 15% throttle. If I were pulling away from a stop the engine would die due to the high load. If I was rounding a corner the engine would cut out and I would have to grab the clutch to save it. I tried a couple different maps, namely the Staintune and Micron exhaust maps (both with and without the timing advance that the PCII allows). After dealing with this throughout my ride from Houston to Columbus, OH I was fed up with constantly keeping an eye on the tach. I removed the PCII and the issue is gone. Seems like I've lost some urgency off the bottom end, as well as increased operating temperatures. So does anyone know if this is a matter my maps, or simply an issue with the PCII? Should I just cough up the dough for a PCIII? Thanks, Mark
Sounds to me like the PC is faulty because if you have used at least two different pre made maps they shouldn't be adjusting fueling so out of whack that it kills the bike. I don't know if you can even change the mapping so much that it causes the bike to die. I've never tried to adjust the maps on my PC3 way Way out. Maybe some one else will have some insight.
