Since I no longer have a completely "stock" exhaust, if I were to get a power commander, what type of map should I go with?

    Thanks,

1st question is, why are you considering a power commander?

You will need to run the stock map.

To address Tink's question, I'm considereing a power commander to refine the throttle response throughout the rev band and maximize the existing power my V4 generates. The snatchy response at low / parking lot speeds has always been an issue on my bike too. I'm aware that the addition of a PC will not add HP but I'm under the impression it will manage the fuel delivery to maximize what this power plant already has.

    Am I correct here?

So if maximum performance is what you're after, why cheap out on doing a dyno tune and know that it's the "best it can be"?

Your reply confuses me. Unless you've got a typo, a dyno tune is rather costly is it not? A dyno tune will cost more than a PC. Are yousuggesting a dyno tune instead of PC? I've made it clear as far as what I'm after with this potential mod. I appreciate you weighing in but I'm not sure how to interpret that.

sorry - I probably should have used the term "custom map"

    So here's my point -

People buy a PC because they want better performance. Then they want to use pre engineered maps and go "ah, that's good enough".

I'm just not wired that way. If I'm after better performance, why not spend the couple extra bucks to do a custom map on the PC and know that I have the "best" performance I can have? No, the dyno run isn't free but deals come along. My local shop is running a special on PCIII installed with custom map for $500. For me, it's a small price to pay to know that it's "right" and it's the "best" it can be. http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=43757

Or, you can just plug in pre made maps and no doubt you'll find one that's better than what you have now.

The cost of the P/C was worth it just to correct the throttle snatch on my bike. It was terrible before. Truly awful. Maybe worse than that.

Thanks for clearing that up Tink, got it. The deal at your local shop seems like a good one. I'm sure there's a PC in my future. The cost of the dyno tune far exceeds my already non existent motorcycle budget.

    Peace

I just bought a PC purely to straighten out the FI issues and therefore, I'm good with the stock map. I think that Tink is right that if you're looking for performance, then buying the PC is only half of what you need. A custom map rounds it out.

Same here. Three times in two weeks it has tried to launch me in front of cars at roundabouts.

Have you disabled the PAIR Valve? It made a HUGE night and day difference on mine. Just unpluged the electrical connector. Smoothed off throttle response and v-tec. Liked the hard v-tec engagement though.
