First...This is by NO MEANS a 1 up on Wesley's Thread.
By My Standards he is a PRO!!!

This is just going to be my write-up (sticky) on how I painted (most) of my bike. 1993 VFR 750

I thought I'd begin this thread tonight because I just finished the seat cowl.
    Still to come-
    Mid Panels
    Lower Cowl + metal lowers
    Tail section (touch ups)

This will all be done by way of Color RIte OEM match Rattle cans.
With no body work to be done. All parts a already have require NO filler or plastic welding.

HEY BUBBA...If you read this PART 2 IS COMMING!!! :)

where did you get the pearl oem in a spray can? how much was it a can? does it match the 06 pearl white pretty close. I just ordered hard bags and was concidering this. I have always used a gun but saw another bike done with good quality in a can paint and it looked great. Good luck with yours

whitesmokeyzf - Color Rite is a paint maker. i have heard both good and bad. The bad usually when it comes to matching the red Honda uses because it changes slightly from year to year, even though the name of the color stays the same. Their website is http://www.color-rite.com/

Pearl - Are you using the base coat as well in your project or just the Pearl White top coat?

    Vinny-

Using both Base/Top, exactly as prescribed by ColorRite.
    Its turning out GREAT!
The match is perfect, as I followed the instruction to the T.

I'll be posting pics & Write-up here soon.
Have the Lowers and Cowl done. Just finished sanding w/ 2000 grt after clearcoat cure time.
They suggest waiting 2-3 weeks for polishing and buffing compound.
Still have a week to go.... (Why deviate now, its turned out awesome)

Your doing Part 3! Part two is more repair. I just need to get off my lazy butt and take a few pictures. Its all written up, so pics is all I need, or I should say additional pics.

Color-rite makes some nice products. And White Knight is correct, beware the Honda Red can be a little off sometimes.

    I AM AN IDIOT!!!!!!

For anyone who has been waiting for some pics and Write-up...
your going to have to wait a while longer
I will post pics tonite. (of the disaster that is)

Last night, i had just finished buffing out the rear seat cowl. FINISHED!! yes!
I was waiting for it to dry and haze before rubbing the carnubba wax out...

AND WHAM!! It slipped out of my hands (due to the wax) and hit the floor.
Busted up the paint on both edges right in front of where the bump pad goes.

Looks like I'll be starting over from scratch now...

The lowers are stilling awaiting the recommended time between final sand and buffing. Should have them finished this weekend.
Next will be the tail sections and midpanels.

The only complaint I have so far is the excessive wait time/downtime between clearcoat - final sand
    &
    Final sand - Rubbing compound/polishing

ColorRite suggests 3-5 days between clear - sanding
and than 2-3 weeks between sanding - buffing

maybe I'm just really impatient :)
