Well, as it says, one of my riding buddies, Charles, took a spill yesterday and pretty much totalled his white 06 VFR. It was his fault...lowsided taking a curve to fast. There is alot of dust and pollen on the roads lately so I'm sure that didn't help. Anyway, he's pretty much ok, but the bike is way fuxored. Bent forks, twisted subframe, all plastic destroyed.
I'm now working in our service department and man oh man, lots of wrecks coming in lately.
Anyway, say a prayer for Charles, and do be extra careful out there. I know for those of you who don't ride year round, the springtime can be extra dangerous till ya get your riding legs back. Also, the cagers seem to be on autopilot this time of year.

After a recent low speed crash myself I know how much he is hurting more than I. I hope he recovers quick. Looks like its insurance time for the bike and the hospital. Makes me remember to get some life insurance!

I will pass on the words of encouragement to Charles. We will do a wreck estimate on his bike tomorrow, but pretty much everything on the bike is screwed up....maybe some parts for sale soon? Heh...I do know the clock still works.
He WAS wearing good gear, although most of it is trashed now, but, it did it's job and as stated, both the gear and the bike can easily be repaired.
On a side note, a guy I sold a Shadow 750 totalled it last week too.
We've been having quite the pollen storm lately, so I know the roads are a little extra slippery.....
Anyway, keep the shiney side up !

damn, alway hate to hear that. tell him good luck. I am still not back to 100% confidence in my riding after my spill in late '06. Still have occasionall wrist/arm pain and still tryin to decide how to fix the bike. Hope he gets well soon. VFRWorld is a good part of the recovery process. When I wasn't riding, I was reading up about the riding others were doing which helped me get back in the zone...

I lived in Raleigh for a couple years and I remember all the pollen covering everything this time of year. I have never seen any place that had more than the carolina's. I miss that area and given the chance I want to move back. but for now I'm stuck in my home state of Maine with one of the shortest riding seasons anywhere. we are expecting 6-10 inches of fresh snow tonight. so if your able to ride think of me up here. I can't even get my bike road ready yet cause of the snow. We also have this thing called mud season up here where if it isn't covered in aspalt or cement it's mud about 6-12 inches deep.

Sorry to hear about your friend Charles. I makes you thankful for all the money you spend on the best gear you can afford. The bike is just metal, tell him we hope he heals quickly.

early Spring is really dangerous for road conditions:eek: , there's no fans in the stands by the side of the road dudes, ride within your limits.

I am from upstate PA, Warren to be exact, so I know what you mean by short riding season. I feel for you Jaymz. I imagine from June to early September you probably live on your 500!

And Charles, thanks for sharing, tell you friend to heal up and I am proud of him for wearing gear! Seems very few do nowadays!

Thanks for the heads-up! Even way up here it's the same: so much pollen and dust on the road, plus the gravel that gets slung from the shoulder onto the corners.

Hate to hear another rider is hurt, and hoping for a fast and complete recovery!

Well, well, well....I found out how my buddy dusted his VFR....doing freaking wheelies ! Apparently, he was out burning off some Duke grad-school stress early in the AM when he 12 o'clocked the VFR, grinding the tail and exhaust and literally fell off the back. He said the bike kept going down the road a few hundred feet before crashing off the side of the road.
The damage was too severe to save the bike, so he's going to sell the parts and start over with a new bike.
Anyway, I'm sure he learned his lesson and again, thanks to his gear, he walked away.
    Ride safe people !

Call me a cold hearted a**hole, or what ever, but I get really chafed when some squid trashes his bike then fabricates a story to gain sympathy!!!!!!

I will pray for Charles to quit being stoopid and grow up!!!
