Hey folks, So the only flaw I can find in Stacey, my 5th gen, is the lever positions. The stock bars and cylinder/lever assemblies make it such that my wrists are constantly bent upward, so I get hand cramps from using the controls. With my RC51, for example, the bars are just straight tubes, so I can roll the levers forward so my wrists are straight. Our VFRs have them cool molded bars that look really slick, but don't allow for any lever adjustment becuz of the towers at the inner ends. Can anyone recommend alternatives? different cylinder assemblies, or bars that can be retrofitted but that don't change the grip positions? Thanks, folks.
The controls do rotate a bit forward and back, I want to make sure that you know this much. Unless the forward position is not enough for you? Beware: As you rotate the brake controls forward, if the brake light switch touches the bar, it will short. You must leave space there and not stop the movement with the brake light switch.
Awe.. on the brake lever, what stops it on mine before I can roll it further forward, which I'd like to do. "if " is the brake line it's self runs into the clamp part of the clip on. I gave it a business card thickness for clearness to keep things from rubbing, it's still not enough IMO. Next would be shaving down the stop on the bajo bolt that holds the brake line to the MC, or wait it out for the whole front end redo.
To answer the question rotation only goes so far with stock bars (clip-ons). There are a few options, one being going with a super bike bar conversion I.e.LSL bars. https://spieglerusa.com/controls/handlebar-conversion.html Or something like the Convertibars. http://www.convertibars.com Both options will allow better rotation than the stock setup, but I think the LSL option allows for unobstructed rotation, vice the clip-on style found with the Convertibars.
