I just wanted to throw this out there as I'm curious what bike vfr owners would want to own if it couldn't be the vfr. I am financially limited right now to just one bike so I often think of what would I get if someone were to pay me the right price for my 98. I have often thought I would like to try an rc 51 or a vtr 1000

I have never owned or even ridden another bike besides my '84 but if i had the chance to buy another bike i would get the rc51 without giving it a second chance.

VTR would be a better one bike choice than RC 51 but it doesnt get good good gas mileage by tank becuase It has a small fuel tank. Not saying it is a better bike. Just better day to day bike. MHO. RC51 is jut too specialized. I personally think the RC51 is a beautiful bike and would be great for group, track or weekend rides.
If I could only have one bike and not the VFR it would be the Suzuki SV1000. I think is a reasonabl priced all rounder.

If I could have another bike in addition to the VFR it would be the Aprillia RSV or the Honda RC 51.

But when you are talking bikes to do it all... That gets tough.

For me, it would be a dual sport bike. It would be a Honda XR650L.

Realistically I would have to say either a ST1300 or a KTM adventure. I might also settle for a Aprilia RSV4

I currently want to buy a Ducati Monster, but since we are talking about an "all arounder" bike that the VFR is, I would have to say the Ducati Multistrada....

In a slightly lower price bracket would be the Triumph Sprint ST... looks like a VFR copy don't it???

And on the more sporty side, the Ninja1000

Tough call. At any given moment it could be a lot of bikes. DL1000, Versys, a Guzzi of some sort, a low mileage Connie 1000. So many bikes to love...

This is the bike I have lusted for ever since I made a video of it slowly rotating
on a platform in the Honda tent at Laguna Seca Grand Prix. This is the only one that
would replace my sweet 98 VFR.

    Tough choices

There are so many nice bikes out there. I totaled my 2000 vfr on 12/15/11 while unsuccessfully trying to get around a group of deer on a back road. I loved that bike and drove it for 25000 trouble free miles over the last 4 years. After a 2 week stay in the icu/hospital and 2 more months to heal, I purchased an 09 Triumph Sprint st 1050. I may purchase an 06 vfr this year as well. The st is my first non Japanese bike and all I can say is wow! If money wasn't an issue I would probably buy an fjr. I'll probably flip the st or the vfr for a tidy profit. It is amazing the deals you can get during the off season.

I have had a lot of bikes and the one that gave the biggest grin was the VTR1000 with yoshis.
The tank mileage isnt so bad if you are careful with the throttle, bike is excellent bang for the buck IMO

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that lusts after all the great bikes out there. Thankfully I haven't come up with one I want more than the one I have. I relly thought the vfr 1200 was going to be the one but I just can't get over how it looks. The 2012 red white and blue cbr 1000rr is close. Man I really need to try and get a second bike.

+1 mate I love the RWB CBR1000RR, 2011 or 2012 obviously the 12 is nicer but more coin here anyway.

a crossplane crank R1 would be OK too.

Besides my VFR800 I currently own an RC51,a Ducati 900SS,and an XL600R. But I suppose if I was going to get another bike Taylor it would probably be an old Ducati Supersport 1000DS.
I've had my eye on the 1000DS for quite some time now. I'd prolly have it painted up in a Tricolore paint scheme very similar to the one in this sketch.

I think I would have to go with the BMW F 800 ST, for most of the same reasons I like the VFR. Mind you I'm not willing to part with my VFR, but if I couldn't have a VFR ... I would really miss the sound though.

I had a chance to buy a used ST (3 YO) from a dealer, all the bells a whistles including luggage, mat silver & 900 klms (560 mls) on the clock. Dealer wanted to much & offered bugger all on my trade.
I test rode quite a few bikes before settling on the VFR, but 2 bikes stand out for me, Ducati Monster 696, fun factor & looks. And a Moto Morini Corsaro 1200, same reasons, but with a bottom end that scared the crap out of me.
    This particular one:
