I'm just curious about the experiences of other riders... I got my first sppeding ticket on my 2nd gen yesterday, in fact my first speeding ticket ever, and I was... well, I was bummed about the ticket and less than impressed by the officer's attitude. So, tell us about your experience with Johnny Law

Well to be fair, I have had dealings with all three of your criteria listed in your poll.... but for the most part I have been dealt wioth exteremely well by LEO (considering my 130+ MPH run on the VFR back in the day...... more recently I have had the dick head cops treat me badly but, That was straightened out with a conversation with their supervisor.....funny thing is.......I haven't had a ticket in a dozen years........(knocks on wood)

My experiences have all included the officer making up laws and one threatened to draw on me. All of their ridiculous actions have been supported by their superiors. And no, I am not someone who does ANYTHING to warrant such actions.

    Age

I have had more than my fair share of tickets. As I have gotten older I have not been cited after helmet was off and the officer was aware of my age.It does help to be polite , truthful and use their name (its on the uniform).Lipstick and a pretty mouth helps to.:biggrin:I also have a traffic lawyer in the area that has gotten me out of some whoppers with his magic. You may want to see if there is one in your area, it is expensive but if you factor in the day off work , the cost of the fine, and the point on your record it is a wash......and you dont have to go to court.

    Can't vote but...

I have a long and storied history of getting tix in my car.
I have lived and ridden in 3 states, Arizona, Illinois, and Florida. Taken many tours in surrounding states. Not only have I never gotten a ticket when riding, but I've blown past LEO's who look and go about their business. I can't explain it. Would not describe myself as a sport rider, but I do routinely exceed the limit. Also, my registration has been expired as often as it is current. Am I a ghost rider?
My impression is that Cali is whole different world, though. So that might skew results.
When I get that first ticket, my attitude will surely change.

I guess it didn't help me that I actually pulled away from him at one point... He didn't have his lights on, so I didn't know he was there... so I was cruisin' down open freeway at like 95, sped up to pass a slow mover in my lane... I mean, on sport bikes ya kinda routinely speed, I just didn't expect him to pop out from behind a boulder in his Expedition...

The incident when the officer threatened to draw (and he and his partner had their hands on their guns the whole time) I was 7 months pregnant. Johnny was open carrying in the car and has his concealed license. The officer told us how we should not have a gun and that having you CWL means it MUST be concealed which is a lie. Neither of us had any attitude and were afraid they were going to shoot. It was awful. Typical cop though, tells you lies because they think they should be the only ones to carry guns.

Lets see..You cop to doing 95 and what is it you are asking about? I'm sure the judge will agree that the LEO not having his lights on is an excellent defense.

The upside is that you are no longer a cherry.

I've had the same trouble with some of these (officers) having their hand on their gun. I just figure it's small tool syndrome.

on another note I've seen your bafore pictures Shorty I would still want to frisk you.

lol would be interesting if I took it around with me to see what would happen

I always wanted to put a gun rack in my crx, would be perfect right behind the seats at the end of the hatch area.

Should clarify for those who don't know me though, when I am armed I don't go around flashing it all willy nilly. It is like I don't even have it.

And crusty, not sure what it is with cops and pregnant women. Then again, you can find videos or reports of them shooting or tasing just about any disadvantaged person.

It's a good idea not to flash anything all willy nilly.

    3 things:

    1) Cool that you used Justin from the Secret of Nimh for your avatar. Very obscure & I'm not sure many people even know what I'm refering to.

    2) VFourBear's avatar is wwwaaayyy disturbing. Off the charts disturbing I would say.

    3) This thread, like all threads about the Police, will end in a bad way.

    KC-10 FE out...

Flashing girls =:whoo::stripper: Flashing guns = :2guns::bandito: Flashing guys =:puke:. I didnt take part in the poll but we have our typical "Bubba cop," down here. Being ex LEO I know when a guy is being professional and when he is being an :asshat: I have been stopped in my truck 4 times in the last 10 years here. 3 times the cop was trying to flex his judicial "I have no clue," muscle. (asshat). The one and only guy I did get a ticket from was professional. He was cordial and polite and in the end he treated me like an equal with no be-rateing involvement. I havent been stopped on the bike. (knocking on a lot of wood). There are a lot of good cops out there its just unfortunate that you will only hear of the bad ones.
