    Welcome to the party!

    As you will surely see in subsequent posts to this thread; we have LOTS of opinions on oil and filters. Here are some to get you started.

    Very few folks are fans of Fram filters, most of us think there are better alternatives. See below for perhaps more than you care to read on the topic.

    Motorcycle Oil Filters & Air Filters

    From the same author, here are his thoughts on oil:

    All About Motor Oil

    My personnal thoughts are as follows;

    1. Engines are expensive, oil is cheap; I use a full synthetic.
    2. If you want to base your decision on facts rather than opinion get your old oil analyzed. That will tell you if you're having viscosity break-down or wear issues. One popular lab is Blackstone.

    Good luck with the Magna!

    I think you are pulling our collective legs. Search here for oil and filters. There are plenty of answers there.

    Oil product names in Canada are not the same here in the states. And while Fram is made in Canada, they are not vey good.

    Fr am is OK if you use a metric funnel to fill the oil.

    I think mestoo has the best answer for you. I have been using synthetic ever since the very first oil change on the bike when I bought it new in August 06. I now have over 109,000 km on it. Next bike I think I am going to stick with the regular oil. Given the cost of the synthetic, I don't think it is any cost saving. I firmly believe in regular oil changes. With the proper oil, this is the key to longevity for your machine.

    BTW. Welcome to this den of insanity. So long as the nurse isn't hanging around to cramp our style, we have fun here. We share our meds. We have our share of great advise here too. You will learn who to take to heart. When in Canukistan are you from? Also, if you do not post photographs of your ride, you will be secretly monitored by the VFRWFPA (VFR World Forum Protection Agency) as a suspected impostor. If found out, you are subject to loosing certain appendages

    For what you ar looking for the castrol you are looking at or the shell rotella will be a good choice. Make sure you dont get anything energy conserving. That will be indeicated in the bottom of the api circle on the back of the bottle.

    Filterwise use the oem or a purolator, mobile, champion, boch, wix replacement.
