Sorry to start an oil thread. I'm a new owner of a mint 86 w/20k on it. Which oil do you reccomend? I use Shell rotella synthetic in my inline 4's and have been happy w/it. Those bikes got synth after a 3k break in on dino. Would you put synth in a V 4 @ 20k? Thanks from a newb

Not without changing all your seals. Those old ones tend to spring leaks. But, if you do the replacement on the seals, I think its a good idea.

I've run a semi-synthetic in my '86 750 for years and have had no issues at all. I also run the semi-synthetic in my '86 500 and 1000 and again, I have had no problems with leaks. I also run it in my '07. I like the semi-synthetic because it is a compromise and works well.

Been using Amsoil motorcycle oil (full synth) for 2+ years and a couple thousand miles. Doesn't leak or use a drop. (22K on the clock)
