Off-Road Pipe Available?

    I'm thinking about eliminating the stock catalytic converter on my 2007 R/W/B Interceptor.

    1. Does anybody know of an aftermarket "off-road" pipe that takes the place of the stock catalytic converter (thus retaining the factory headers and "up pipe" that goes to the stock mufflers)
    2. Does anybody know how much a cat removal will affect power output (if any)
    3. Does anybody know how much a cat removal will affect the exhaust note (louder??)
    4. Does anybody know if the stock oxygen sensor will freak out with the cat removed (it shouldn't as it is located in front of the catalytic converter ... not downstream of it)

    98 - 01 non cat headers will fit.
    there are 2 aftermarket headers available.
    you can gut the cat, I plan on doing this and making a Y pipe. will post when i start this project.
    a tad more noise from gutting cat and leaving hollow cat on. you can add a baffle in the hollow cat to eliminate the hollow sound.
    02 sensors as you stated are before the cat so it will not affect the bike at all.

    I already checked into the stock headers for an earlier VFR. Not only is it a pricey upgrade, but it involves a fair bit of work. If I did do a header swap, I'd at least go for an aftermarket header as (I'm assuming) it would incorporate better/smoother bends for improved flow.

    However, I'm still hoping that someone knows about a pre-made "off-road" pipe to simply eliminate the cat.

    no because the cat is welded on.
    there are a few threads on gutting the kitty.
    I will go one step further when i do mine, by cutting the cat in half and using that as a jig to make a Y pipe.
    also asking if anyone would like to give me another stock one if i pay for shipping to make a baffle inside empty cat to compare to see what one is the best for engine proformance.

    So I am bummed that nobody has suggested (and/or nobody makes) a simple catalytic converter "off road" pipe for a 2002-newer Honda Interceptor. Thus, in a few weeks I will buy a box of stainless-steel mandrel bends and make my own. And then I'm going to weigh the off-road pipe versus the stock cat system (to determine the weight savings) as well as to dyno the bike to see what power improvement is realized from the reduction in exhaust backpressure/improved flow.

    I feel confident that there will be a good return on investment (price/hassle versus performance improvement). Thus, if I build it ... who is interested in buying one? If I get enough interest then I will build a jig and make them out of mandrel bends with stainless-steel pipe. The goal would be to make a simple bolt-on that does not require any welding ... just a simple bolt-on system.

    Anyone?

    Come to think of it, if I remove the factory cat there will be enough room to fit a single turbocharger below the engine and ... ok, I think I'm getting ahead of myself.
