I think you can get OEM for the 7th gen but will be pricey. I used Oxford it ran about $80.00

Are the Oxford's plug and play or do you have to splice in to the wires?

The 6g OEM subharness is somewhat of a clusterfuck, way too much wire and requires a bit of effort to clean up the wad of unnecessary wire that you will end up trying to find a place to hide.....also the heating element is molded into the grip itself, which leads to a larger diameter grip. Ended up removing the whole OEM kit and going with "under the grip" heaters....the larger diameter OEM heated grip was a deal killer for me.

Personally I always go for the under the grip heaters. They're uber-cheap, work well, you can put them under any grips you want, and as someone else stated, you don't get the "fat" grips. I've got a set from Moose racing waiting to be installed, but not exactly a big priority this time of year. If you do go for this type, look for the dual element rather than the ones that use a resistor to give you the low setting.

    MHO, YMMV

I've got the OEM heated grips on my 6th Gen and I love them. I find no problem with "larger diameter grips".
I have tried the "over the grip"type and didn't get on with them (oxford ), but these came already fitted and I wouldn't part with them.
It gets fairly cold here in South Wales so I use them a lot, god knows how I survived without them !!

    You're older now?

Never had heated grips in my life. A hellish return trip from Spa in December about 8 years ago made me decide to get heated gloves. Bliss in 15 seconds, let's see heated grips do that in the dead of winter when you've taken off a glove to fuel up.
The Baehr gloves and thermostat have been with me on every bike since.

    FWIW & MHO as well.

Agreed completely. Heated grips are awesome on those "cool" evenings, but useless when it's actually "cold". I wired a heat-troller on the VFR a long time ago for my heated gloves. They extended my riding season more than any other piece of gear I could have bought. Now I have no problem riding when it's well below the freezing mark. I tried hand guards, grip heaters, and heavy winter gloves before finally giving in to heated gloves. Shoulda done it sooner. As Befbever said...instant bliss.

I have an OEM accessory harness I don't need if you are interested. This makes adding the accessory 12v socket or heated grips much easier. Plugs directly into the OEM harness.

Y'all have put a pea under the mattress of Princess Norcalboy, by doing anything other than her way. Beware the heated gripe.

My vfr has oem grips installed when I bought it second hand. They are wired in such a way that if the battery level drops (sitting at idle for more than 30 seconds for me) then they turn off. Designed to save your battery. Drives me nuts if I'm at traffic light for a while but they are good.

On the Hornet I have oxford heated grips and maaaan they get hot. In the shop where I used to work we had a display pair on the front desk and if we had them on max for an hour or so the rubber would melt!
