I ordered a trip meter knob for the 84 700 and it doesn't come with a mounting screw. Figured I could get one at the specialty hardware place. Eyeballed it and figured it was M2.5x5- no problem. Turns out it's M2.3x6. Search by the part# (90600-MB2-008) and found only one source in the UK- $2.00 part with $27 shipping.

It's a 1/2 D shaft, the screw just keeps it from falling off. Thinking about just epoxying it or maybe superglue.

Maybe someone here with better search skills than me could find it?

The original may be a counter sink screw. It sits flush with the end of the knob. I'm not going to pull mine out to check because I just know it will either break or strip.

Does the knob have some sort of clearance cut for the screw? Should be able to tell from it what type of screw you need.

I just re-did my instrument cluster and yes knob is counter sunk for screw. Check with classified for '83 being sold for parts. I got my dash from him and transferred my aluminum face place.
