    Hey guys,

Yesterday I was riding home from work along the freeway and i looked down and my FI light was on. A little scared I downshifted to see if it would go into higher rpm's and it did.

a bit about the bike real quick
    2002 vfr 800i
bought it 3ish weeks ago. 1800 miles on it. now im at 2600ish miles have not taken it in for the recall yet. but still very new

so back to the story, I continued riding down the freeway got off at my exit and pulled over light still on. turned the bike off and let it sit for a minute turned it back on FI light came on, but then went off after a few seconds and started the bike. The light stayed off the rest of the ride home and has not given me any issues today (tested it on the freeway up to some non legal speeds) was fine.

what I have done so far

I Tried the self diagnostic, it came up with no problems so what should my next step be...

2002...do you know when it left the dealership or has it sat for five years and deposits likely all up the fuel system? My first thought would be cleaning the injectors and such... anyone?

i dont know when it left the dealership, but when he took it out to show it to me it ran pretty rough he took it around the building for a bit gave it some new gas and it sounded better. should i take them out and have them cleaned or is there a way for me to do it, or just get some fuel injector cleaner from the store and pour that into the tank on the next fill

You could try running some fuel system cleaner in the next tank, and see what happens. Also, depending on how long the bike has been sitting, you might be better off changing all the fluids. Depending on how much junk has built up from it sitting, fuel system cleaner probably won't get rid of everything first try. But not sure, I've never let a bike sit for more than 2 weeks between rides. Good luck.
