Hey I live North of Seattle and we have had our first bit if decent warm weather, I'm curious on what other people's bikes run at temp wise in traffic in the summer. This is my first bike so I'm not exactly sure of what is normal or not. With a lot of stand still my bike will peak at 220 before dropping back down, cruising on the freeway she'll stay at 170 pretty steady. Bought her in the winter so haven't really seem temps this high before.

    Hello,
According to the Honda Service manual:

    Begin to open = 80C-84C/176F-183F
    Fully open = 95C/203F

The highest I've ever seen my bike go is 105C, it normally is around the 95C when standing still, and about 85C when moving.
In our current weather (Victoria, so same as you), in the cooler morning 75C and afternoon is about 85C-90C if I sit for a bit.

So if you are reading 220F in our current weather, in my opinion it seems a little high, as I see that temperature in our summer and if I'm in heavy stalled traffic.

Alright then I would assume since my coolant looks good and clean and my fan comes on when it should that I should probably take on the t-stat then, at the very least just for maintenance. It's very low mileage and done quite a bit of sitting before I got it, anything else with the cooling system on these that you guys suggest I do while I'm there?

Sounds normal in traffic. Mine will hit 220 doing 30mph behind other cars in 50+ degree weather while touring Rocky Mountain National Park. The system just isn't designed for efficient slow speed cooling. Everyone stresses about the cooling temps but there's rarely a problem.

It's fine. 170 to 220 is quite normal if you look around the forum.
