non starting vfr 800 no fuel pump prime

Hi fellow vfr owners, my brief introduction to you is that I have been a rider for many years and took a break from it then I purchased this awesome bike. 2001 VFR 800 interceptor, it has only 15k on it , when I collected the bike from my friend who rarely used it the bike was running perfect, then it failed to start, I did the basic stuff like change a air filter and oil etc. I went through the diagnostic stuff in the manual and first I thought it was the fuel pump, ordered a new one but still no start, next replaced the fuel shut off relay, no start, then I changed the bank angle / tip sensor yesterday still no start, when I jump the wires at the fuel cut off relay I switch on and the fuel pump purrs away and the bike starts up perfect, so its got to be an electrical issue somewhere, all fuses are good no flashing fi lights etc. can anyone point me in the rite direction
