do all 86 vf550f's come with center stands? Mine doesn't have one, but I could ask all the PO's if they took it off...? Is there an advantage in having one? What's involved in installing one? I see one on ebay, it's the center stand piece and a spring, do I need any more hardware? Thanks.

Most people have taken them off to save weight, I did reinstall one on my bike cause it is easier for me to work on it that way, once i'm done I will probley remove it again. It is easy to install, but the spring can be a bitch. It dosn't sit right w/ my F1's either.

Yes, it should have one. For me, the extra weight (little that it is) is worth it. When I park, I always put my bike on the center stand. That way, I don't have to worry about it tipping over due to soft pavement on a hot day. Also, it greatly facilitates with maintenance of the rear wheel and chain adjustment.
