Here's a project that I stumbled upon. Bought this from the original owner, 59,000 miles. It was rotting for 11 years in a widows garage. Top was down, covered in dust, no brakes, no run, no move, all 4 tires flat as a board, and off the bead. Got it home, dropped the tank....CLEAN!, replaced all rubber hoses, vac lines, fuel lines, rebuilt the rochester carb, got her to fire up and idle nicely. Put it in gear........no go. So we dropped the tran pan,(turbo hydramatic 400) replaced tran filter, put in 6 Qts Dexron.........perfect shifting up and down, replaced the master cylinder and power bled the system, stops perfectly, someone had replaced pads and shoes, cause they look new. She now runs and drives perfectly, but the old tires are roached, must have broken belts, new tires next week. What do you think? 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Classic convertable, 454 big block, power windows, locks, seats, cruise control and the original AM/FM 8 track. Top turned out to be fine, no holes or cracks. Got it for $4500.00, so far without tires I've spent roughly $600.00 on parts. Good deal??
