my first question would be the same as Crusty's: how long did the bike sit?

My 1987 VFR sat for 4 years before I got my hands on it, so like a numbnuts I cranked it over once when I first got it home, and smelled bad gas from the exhaust... carb cleaning and tank sealing later, it runs like a damn top

    Need more info please

hi the person i bought it from said that it had sat for about a year. he said that he had one of his mechanics clean out the carbs but then it sat afterwords. i have taken the bowls off of all four carbs. are the jets in the bottom of the bowl? i owned an 84 vf500f before and never had to mess with the carbs so this is really my first time messing with them so if anyone can help me out with a diagram of the carbs and turns for the jets would be really great also the bike has a 4 into 1 yoshimura pipe on it if that helps. also is there any way to just buy the points in the fuel pump instead of the buying the whole fuel pump thanks again nick
