    Hello all,

New member from Sweden here. Have been riding Honda V4's since 1993 in the form of a VF1000F from 1984, but had a short break due to different things that started with a failed second gear (fixed) and ended with two kids and a new house. I did however keep the old bike in storage, but forgot to do the necessary steps to keep it in good condition. So I now own a project bike. Oh joy!

Scratch that, I own two project bikes. Due to the first one not running I longed to have something vibrating betw... *cough* ... I longed to have something to enjoy on the twisty roads around here. So I bought a VFR800VTEC 2002 as an insurance write off at an auction. It looked ok in the pictures, but the condition was worse than expected. I did however ride it home, in december, in Sweden. Better weather here then than at the midsummer celebration, which was somewhat odd.

I have a 8 spoke rear rim I got cheap coming in by mail, due to the first rim being bent out of shape from the write off incident. And various other damaged vital parts are being replaced slowly. It seems to keep all fluids internally so far though, which is more than I can say about the other bike.

I will not bother with repairing the fairing (scratches only) this year, because riding (hopefully).

Edit: Oh, forgot to mention, the mileage (is that the correct term even if I write it in kilometers?) of the new bike is around 36000 km (I've done 20) and the old is 97000 km (of which I've done the majority).

Yes we say "mileage" here as well.

You have a good sense of humor. You'll fit right in here.

Welcome. You gotta make sure when you refer to mileage, you make it clear that it is actually kilometers. You should do the math too for these Yanks otherwise they tend to get confused. :potstir:

BTW 36K km is peanuts if there is not internal damage done to that motor. Mine is somewhere around 196,000 km and no issues. It's and '06 Enjoy your visit here. Permanent residency here requires a special Honda International visa. Get caught without one may result in your being fined a maximum of 350 Canadian Tire Dollars.

Hmmmm. Kilomerage. Sounds like some sort of intestinal bleeding of some sort doesn't it?

Welcome. That's a nice looking 6th Gen. A rashed fairing is no big deal and you can't see it when you are riding.

Why do all bike look better in pictures before you buy them?

Done some investigation of the newly aquired. Seems like the de-snorkeling, flapper valve and PAIR disabling mods were done by some PO. It also seems as the fuel pressure regulator is working, or at least the vacuum tube was really dry and no sign of old fuel (smell or otherwise). I didn't run the bike with the tube removed (because -20 degrees Celsius *brrr*), so no online check. But even so, good sign! I hope the worn spark plugs are the reason my oil smelled of fuel when I changed it. Or it could be the cold starts and short runnings I've done just before the oil change (we had +13C a month ago, strange times) to show off the sound of my TwoBro exhaust can (singular, even though I got two for some reason). My wife just smiles at me when I try explaining the various merits of a free sounding smallblock Honda V4...

Got some new spark plugs coming in from USA (of all places). Way cheaper than locally even though the cost of transport and VAT were rather steep.

Edit: The PAIR disabling was done by pulling an electrical connection right behind the air cleaner. Any disadvantages of that, other than that all the heavy hardware is still there? I don't get a FI fault light, so all is good I guess?

-20. Brrrrrrr is right. You need a warm something. I am about to go change out my headlights cause I just got pulled over for having HID lights. I can do this in the garage without the heat on. Garage faces south and it is sunny and mild. +9C.

I'll answer my own question. It's not good to pull the PAIR electrical connector, it will result in always open valves and really rich running engine (with O2 sensors intact).

Will correct with marble as soon as possible.

Maybe thats why my oil smelled of petrol?
