Hi all...Just found this site...pretty cool!! I was finally able to purchase basically my first bike ('04 asphalt black VFR). I owned an '84 VFR100F back in the early 90's for about 1 summer, but nothing before or since then except dirt bikes.

I was hoping someone could help me out. Included with this bike was a set of Nelson-Rigg saddle bags (model SSB-500) that had never been mounted. I was dinkin' with them tonight and all looks good except for the rear straps. There's not really anything I can see to hook them to. I figured the next best thing was to hook them to one another to keep the bags tight against the side of the bike, but if I do that the straps and a portion of the bags pass directly in front of the exhaust pipes. Another concern I have is that they lay right on the heat shield for the exhaust. Has anyone had any issues with that being to hot for this product or similar?

Has anyone mounted a set of these on their bike? Any advice or ideas you can offer would be appreciated.
