    Hey Guys and Gals!! The Name is Wayne :crazy: . I currently own a 2003 Suzuki Bandit 1200. This is my first bike :thumbsup: ! I have done a lot of custom work to her.... So your probably wondering i joined this site. Well since the first time I saw the VFR 800 I have wanted one. Only my love for them grew stronger since I saw them in person. I joined because Im thinking this winter I want to buy one but want to know the ups and downs of them. Probably sell my current bike or pass it on to a family member.... So If you guys could tell me things to watch out for, the best year, any mechanical defects, etc etc etc. that would be a great help. So hope to hear back from ya and safe riding!!!

    Response from an impartial observer:)

    as a result of my extensive research, I can assure you that the 2007 VFR is vastly superior to all other VFR's ever made. (the 2008 & 2009's are OK, but still can't compare)

    OK, seriously the only thing you really need to watch out for is a problem that is common to ALL year VFR's. The first symptoms appear within moments of buying a VFR. It starts with a need to be around the bike for long periods of time. (even if you can't take it out for a ride) You will find yourself polishing it even though it is not dirty.

    In it's advanced form you will spend inordinate amounts of time on VFR forums, and shopping sites ordering toys to Mod your VFR. (this advanced stage can hit anywhere from 1 hour into ownership to 10 years later)

    Unfortunately, if you hit the advanced stages, even with treatment you will never be the same again.

    Good Luck.

    what part of what country are you in? There is one for sale locally (red '02) with some performance mods. I think for 6 - 6500 range. Just a nurse's hubby that never rode it...

    Every generation of the VFR is good. Pick your poison based on how much you can spend and how much time you can spare of maintenance.

    Regarding curb weights - http://vfrworld.com/forums/general-...-definitive-gen-5-vs-gen-6-weight-thread.html

    Basic mods

    Comfort
    * Heli bars
    * Cruise lock (NEP or Throttlemeister)
    * Sargent or Corbin seat

    Performance
    * After market slip on exhaust
    * PC3
    * O2 elimination
    * Headers (in case you go for a 6th Gen VFR)

    The following is an example where you can see that the sky is the limit when tweaking the VFR - http://vfrworld.com/forums/mechanics-garage/21866-almost-done.html

    Welcome to the addiction.

    Haha!! Awesome!! Im all about customizing. I dont want to have the same old bike as everyone else. So that why i customize. Dont really care about comfort being its a sport tourer and not a sport bike so its plenty comfy as is. I just want sounds like no other and if a and if a cbr600 rolls up next to me I want him to think oh shit not racing this guy. So i dont get any tickets.... like my current bike. My 1200... they dont know it has no top end... they just see the numbers and back off!!

    You've got a VFR - not the ordinary bike already. The SSSA already sets it apart.
