Hey all, this is my first post and I just found this site not too long ago, so... HI!

I have a downpayment on a 2004 Red VFR800 and will be picking it up early July '06. I have been cruising this site and the internet looking for the bits to make it mine. I am thinking of the following:

    1. Laser X-treme pipes - totally HOT!
    2. Drop a tooth on the front sproket - did this on my '01 F4i and made a huge difference.
    3. Sargent seat - I tried a Corbin on my F4i and it sucked. It had this hump on the front of the seat leading to the gas tank. My nuts and the hump couldn't occupy the same space, so I went back to the stock (not quite as suck) seat.

    Any "must have's" I'm missing?

Hey KC-10 FE - I'm a MC-130P Combat Shadow FE - Much love to my peeps! --Air Force Rescue Baby!

    Calikid out! :bolt:

Welcome to the group, Calikid. I don't know if you are missing anything from your list, but I imagine someone will suggest staintunes as a goodexhaust. thought the exaust is entirely your choice. I personally can't add or take away from your list as my vfr is a 93 model. Post some pics when you get some and we have a member map you can add yourself to to help other members see where you are.

Again, welcome and congrats on your purchase.

You definitely don't want a Corbin. I've had both on my VFR and I wouldn't use a Corbin again if I had too. I just sold my Hawk GT Corbin on Ebay on Wednesday. I'm going with +2 teeth on the rear simply because it's easier. I've heard Laser exhausts sound awesome but are a colossal pain in the ass to install & line up.

Here's some props for ya... "4 Fan Trash Can!!!"

    HI Guys.
My first post. I just purchased a 92 VFR 750f. I love the bike and the power it delivers is perfect. I do want a better sound then the stock pipe delivers. I don't really want to spend $400.00 on a pipe and would like to see if anyone knows where I could find a good sounding pipe (not too loud) for maybe a couple hundred. I also changed the oil and filter yesterday with mobile one synthetic 10 W40 and the idle went from 1000 RPM to 2000 RPM after the oil change. I can't seem to get my idle right now. I have screwed with it and it seems to fluctuate on me pretty bad now and It wants to rev up and down and also dieng at times. Not sure why it is doing this and not sure what to do? Any additives I should try to use that is very good to clean the carbs maybe? I also would like to get rid of the governer, it kicks in at about 11,500. Is this easily done? Any other reccomended hop ups since my bike is completly stock and the owner used it to cruise on.
    Thanks much.
    Steve

    Several questions..

First of all, did you replace the air filter with a standard or a K&N or similar ? It does not appear you have done anything which should cause this problem with the idle - I cannot conceive of any reason changing oil would cause this ! Most likely you have failed to replace the lid of the airbox correctly and it is not sealing or you have kinked a breather hose.
The governor is there for a purpose ! The bike is not making peak power or torque by that point in the rev range anyway, so revving harder will give you no gain. The only performance gain to be had from the engine will be to fit a decent quality endcan -Remus/staintune or similar and for acceleration either drop one tooth on the front sprocket, or add 2 to the rear. Bear in mind that this will cause the speedo to read out. Ebay is your best hope for picking up a reasonably priced pipe.

Heli bars, throttle lock, Givi (taller) windscreen, fender eliminator kit and hugger, mirror extenders have made mine a better bike. Have the Sargent seat too, it's pretty good. Need to get off every 1.5 to 2 hrs though.....but i'm 6'0. Would like some Staintunes,,,,,,,,,,but ohhhhhhhh the cost!

I replaced the oil filter not the air filter. I did not take anything apart really except the side ferring to get to the oild filter. I have al ways heard if a bike has run on regular (NON SYNTHETIC) oil and you replace it with synthetic it will rev higher since the friction is so much less. Well it did that but I can't get it straightened out. Now it just wants to flutuate and sometimes dies on me when I coast with the clutch in. I don't know if it was just a freak thing and it just so happened it got a piece of something in the carbs just after the oil change or what? I have been checking Ebay but not yet seen one. Maybe I will try a bike grave yard. Also what is a endcan -Remus/staintune? I guess I wil just take it to the shop. Thanks for the help and BTW I love my corbin seat!!!

If you go to the forum and scroll down to modifications search for fender eliminators or another way is to go to photos and check out the pics There are alot of pics of VFR's who have surgically altered the looks of their VR'S.Good luck hunting....

The owners manual that came with my '06 said that lower friction oils will cuase the clutch not to work properly. If you lower your idle to jsut barely above failing, does it still fluctuate?
