Hi All, just picked my latest to add to the stable - 2001 Tahitian blue VFR800F1 ( I think!)
Needs a bit of work, but comes with a Remus can, brand new original can, tank bag, tailpiece and owners manual. Pretty chuffed for $500 !! Just had a new reg rec, battery and clutch. Discs are all good, runs sweet, tyres good. Thought I’d grab it and see what all the fuss is about !! Has the ‘fuel pump not priming’ issue now and then and some bodywork to do. Also, he said he has done something with the electronic choke. I need to research how to put it back to std.

Awesome, I think you’ll find the 5 Gen to be a really nice machine. As for the “electronic” choke, it’s actually not electronic but rather controlled via the cooling system. It’s called a “wax idle unit”. It essentially uses the heat generated bu the engine to move the choke in or out, either enriching the fuel, when cold or leaning it out when warm/hot. He may have converted it to a manual operation like the 98-99 models used.
