Hi all. Name's Greg. Going to be picking up a '91 tomorrow or the next day. It's been sitting for a while so I've been drawing up a To Do list, and clearing a spot in the garage. Had a '98 a few years back and just love these bikes.

Very nice forum you all have here - lot's of good reading!

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum Greg! Glad to have you aboard. Post up a photo or two when you get a chance (many of us are visually stimulated in that way).

Welcome to The World Greg! Them 3 Gens are good looking bikes, I’d love to have a pristine one in white but garage space and money are keeping that from happening.

As for your to do list, mine would include flush/fill all of the fluids, oil, coolant, clutch and brake. Go over the electrical connections as well and just make sure there is no corrosion on the main connectors like Stator/RR.

If it has been sitting a while as you stated, resist the temptation to start the motor until you can be sure that there is no rust in the tank that could be sucked into the carbs. This is a common "oops- I wish I hadn't done that" mistake, that many have had.

Thanks everyone! I went and saw it yesterday. It belongs to a long-time friend of mine and he's giving it to me for free. It's in pretty good shape - dark blue paint, white wheels, Bitubo shock, GSX-R forks (maybe), Remus pipe, etc. Plan is to transport it home, roll it in to the garage, and go through it with a fine tooth comb. It's actually in way better shape than I expected! She'll clean up very nicely. 49,xxx miles. I'll get some pics up as soon as I can!

After it's running and warmed to operating temp, first test should be to determine charging voltage @ 5k rpm's
